It’s a few weeks to your arrival and oh boy, we can’t wait to meet you. It’s been one heck of a ride and your mother can testify to that. When she was told she is expectant, the scan at the time showed a possibility of her carrying triplets. Yes, Triplets! As much as she was in shock, confused and surprised, she was so happy. We even had a light discussion with her, on how I will adopt one of your siblings, as long as the one I was adopting was cute and didn’t cry a lot.
When she went in for her second scan, the doctor clarified that it was a single pregnancy and the activity that was spotted by the scan is called ‘vanishing twins’. Either way she was still very happy that she was/is going to be a mother.
After the clarification, the doctor noticed that she had internal hemorrhage. She was put on lots of meds and was advised to be on bed rest for a few weeks. This kind of news was not pleasing to us and most of all to her. As a family we prayed for the both of you and we asked God to tuck you in safely in your mothers womb. As always, God is faithful and he did just that. After 5 months of observation and treatment, both of you were out of danger.
Your pregnancy has really changed her, both physically and mentally. Let’s start with the physical changes: During her second trimester, she was looking really cute and chubby. She made pregnancy look really good. But now that she is in her last month, and I must say, your mum has become really ‘blek’ (dark skinned) She has become so ‘blek’ you would think she has roots from the north. She also has an automatic Botox effect on her lips and nose, clearly she is eating and breathing for two. Lol!
She also looks like one of the teletubby cartoon characters. We have made so much fun at her pregnancy, but her cheerful spirit has taken in our ‘jokes’ very kindly and she keeps reminding us that she will be back soon. Personally, I cannot stop making fun of her and she has advised me in advance, that when my time comes, she will be rolling on the floor laughing at me. She says to me, ‘my revenge to you will be sweet’. Haha! Bring it on…. When the time comes though.
Mentally, she has become very patient, calm and understanding. You have toned down her fussiness, which is a very good thing. I thank God and you for this. Phew! At least now we can breath. PS: She is a perfectionist so be warned. You and I will form our own SOS way of communicating, so when you need to be rescued, just dial the secret code (which I will share soon) and I will be there to rescue you.
Zayne, as your eviction date draws closer, know that your mother has made a lot of sacrifices to carry you in her womb. As much as pregnancy is a beautiful thing, it also comes with it’s fair share of ups and downs. From the meds, to diet, to sleeping patterns and even seating positions and posture. She has embraced all these changes and many more just for you. She loves you so much and she cannot wait to meet you and start her new chapter in life with you in it.
I am sure your wondering how the name Zayne came about: Well, after several name vetting sessions and spending lots of time looking at credit rolls in search for a unique name for you, which we gave up eventually because your mum was too fussy with the names we were coming up with. We all went silent on the name search and one evening, we get a WhatsApp message reading, ‘ Zayne is the name’. Finally you had a name. Your name means God’s gracious gift, which you are my darling.
PS: She is a fashionista unlike your dad; we really hope that you will take after her fashion sense. You dad really wanted to be part of this photo shoot but he was called on duty to save the world. I promise to take lots of photos of you and him.
We are all so eager to meet you. Be a good boy to your parents and your elders, work hard in school and we shall all teach you Gods ways. So seek him first and everything will be given onto you. Oh! If you want to become a Superstar, I will be your number one fan and support you all the way.
See you soon from outside.
