The magic of books and learning from them is that they expand your mind and they create a new path to the life and future you hope for.
I was never an avid reader and hardly would you find me in a bookstore shopping for a good read. I never used to like reading and my grammar was poor courtesy of my lack of reading.
When I was in college, I met articulate friends who spoke so well and I started feeling embarrassed because I couldn’t understand some of the terms they were pronouncing. There English was so fluent and I would envy how articulate and confident they sounded.
Because I wanted to sound and be like them, I started reading inspirational books to motivate me to be better and do better. Slowly, my grammar improved and I started speaking good English that I was/is proud of. I found so much pleasure in the knowledge that I was learning from the literature I was reading. I began to have a different kind of shift in my thinking and doing. I began to see opportunities and new ideas everywhere I go.
Reading books has helped me understand my purpose in life. I know how to chase for my dreams and align my goals. Through books, I have become connected with my heart and soul. I have learnt that I am a servant whose main purpose is to serve and do good through the work that I do and through the knowledge that gain from people and books.
Reading has helped me learn how to express myself; how to do business; how to interact and have a conversation with strangers. Reading has helped me overcome my vices and poor choices. I have learnt how to appreciate others and myself and I have learnt how to embrace life.
I challenge you today to find literature that you enjoy reading and immerse yourself in it/them. Seek for wisdom, knowledge, direction and understanding.
