I have always been a big fan of fantasy and drama movies. The likes of The Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, The hobbit, Snow White and the Huntsman and the most recent being The Huntsman: Winter War which I will be watching this weekend.is weekend.
These movies usually hold stellar casts who are coached to fit their specific roles. The details that go into making the wardrobe fit these roles is visually arresting. Oh! Do not get me started with the creativity that goes into the make up, amazing!
Whenever I get to watch these movies, I always find myself fantasizing over a character that I admire and I get so engrossed that I visually get into character while watching the movie. I literally feel like I am acting that specific role. I mean, have you ever watched a movie and you felt like your part of it yet you are not? Well, that is the power that good films holds.
This look was inspired from my love for such movies. Plus our current weather favored it. I wanted to go all in with this theme hence the hair and the outfit. My talented friend and hairstylist did an amazing job at bringing to life the idea that I had for my hair. I chose to do three big and wild cornrows that brought out looks I had captured in some of the characters in The Lord of the Rings. She used braids to give them volume and we decided to braid them halfway and leave the rest of my hair rugged.
As for the winter coat, my husband got it for me while working in Afghanistan. This coat is literally a winter coat. It is warm and heavy which is suitable for winter weather. I wouldn’t recommend it for tropical regions. As for my boots, I was gifted by my good friend who used to work in Italy. The combination of these two outfits brought my vision to life. For a moment I felt like I was shooting this awesome fantasy movie. The shoot took place at Karura which created the perfect backdrop for my vision. The long trees and the waterfall gave it life.
I had a fantastic time shooting this look and my crew did an amazing job at capturing picturesque images.
If you think I nailed this look, kindly drop a comment.
