Ola happy people!
Am on replay right about now. I am going through our wedding photos and I can’t help but feel overjoyed. Our day was made thanks to our families, friends and our dear planner. I want to replay that day for you and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.
11th July 2015 was the day I had set for our wedding. I chose this day knowing that it was Shaq’s (my husband) birthday. I knew that neither of us would ever forget the date, same for his family as well as mine.
That beautiful morning I woke up next to my true friends Angie and Abby. We had spent the night together at the hotel, and you know what, just like the good old days, we all shared one bed. That was such bliss.
The rest of the bridal team started streaming in one by one. The hair and make-up artists kept time, and they immediately started working on the girls.
In no time our room became chaotic because everyone was everywhere. Some were eating, others were dressing and the divas were being dolled up so the room was in a hot mess.
We started an elimination process especially for those who were done dressing up. We needed sanity in the room plus I was avoiding any kind of accident on my gown while I was dressing up. It was photo time and I quickly dressed up and so that we can get things rolling.
The men had a playful session with the photographer and the videographer. They indeed took little time to dress up.
The hour came when I had to leave my room and prepare myself to walk down the aisle. You know, people told me I would be anxious and I might panic but I never felt such. I was so calm and at peace. In-fact I wanted to see all the beautiful faces that surrounded us.
The moment the Dj started playing Cheerleader by Omi the bridal team started walking down the stairs dancing cheerfully. The first time I heard of this song, it reminded me of Shaq. I quickly WhatsApp’d him and told him the bridal team will be dancing to that song. I had no clue the song had so many fans, everyone in the crowd was so happy to hear the song playing and they all sang along.
Minutes later, our favorite song; Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran started playing. I had this big smile on my face. My guardians quickly got into position and the walk down to the aisle began.
While I was walking down, everyone around me became invisible. All I could hear was the music and my eyes were set on Shaq. He was looking at me in adoration and after the ceremony several people had whispered to me that his was balancing his tears as I was walked down the aisle.
My guardians handed me to Shaq and we sat down and listened to Pastor Jacob’s sermon. I must say, he is one hilarious guy. His sermon kept the crowd laughing and while he was advising Shaq ,the (Pastor) at one point referred to my gorgeous gown as a mosquito net. My sister Khadija laughed so hard.
Time came for us to exchange our vows and it was and still is very memorable to me. We both did it with so much grace. It was a beautiful experience, one that I would do all over again if am asked again by Shaq. 😉 Hint! Hint!
We signed our marriage certificate and to the world, It was official. He was made my husband and I his wife.
In a joyous mood we danced to Happy day by Patoranking. Shaq is a big fan of his music and from this picture you can clearly see his joy.
We took photos with family and friends. They were so happy for us. The number of hugs and kisses were so overwhelming but in a very good and special way. Their love for us brightened our spirit. Their outfits brought color to our wedding.
We had a playful photo session at the garden with our bridal team. These guys brightened the session with their jokes and humor.
Look at them gloating over my husband… Weeee! He is married to me…Lol
We later joined the party at the reception. We danced and partied so hard.
To-date, I am still mesmerized by the wedding photos. I replay the wedding over and over in my mind and to be honest I wouldn’t have wished it any different. It was our happy day and it was inspired with love. We shall be forever grateful to God for blessing us with such awesome weather, provision and his blessings. God made it special for us.
Cheers to the beginning of a lifetime with my husband.
